An art historian between Santiago and Paris

Trained in art history first in Chile and then in France, Pablo Droguett has made the movement of works of art between Latin America and Europe the common thread of his career.

Roberto Matta, the starting point

Pablo Droguett specialised in the work of Roberto Matta, the Chilean-born painter and a major figure of Surrealism. This research led him to explore the full range of artistic movements of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

In 2006 and 2007 he contributed to the catalogue marking the 30th anniversary of the Centre Georges Pompidou, compiling a chronology of cultural and artistic events in Latin America. This period of research concluded in 2008 with a series of lectures on Matta's work in Chile.

Drouot and Asian art

In 2011 he became assistant and registrar to Bernard Gomez, an expert in Asian art. It was then that he discovered the world of auctions and the Hôtel Drouot. He soon began bringing business to several Paris auction houses, sending Asian objects found in Chile to France.

Working closely with art

Alongside this, he works as a registrar and exhibition installer for leading cultural institutions: museums, foundations and galleries. This work keeps him in constant contact with works of art and has given him hands-on knowledge of how they are handled, packed and transported.

Working with Millon

Drawing on a strong network of antique dealers in Santiago who regularly buy in France, Pablo Droguett has joined forces with Millon to create a steady flow of artworks and collectibles from Chile, and then from the other countries of South America.
